I've just had two wisdom teeth out (was on thursday)!. It didn't hurt too badly at the time, but it's not been pleasant since then - the first 24 hours were the worst (so far)!.

First they give you a local anaesthetic - just a couple of jabs in the gums!. Then they wait for it to start working, and it tingles a bit in your cheek and lips - felt really weird, like my bottom lip was hugely swollen or something!.

Then they sort of start prying the tooth up with what looked like a screwdriver - I didn't see it properly though, I couldn't look!. I had my eyes tight shut after that! It hurt a bit, but it was bearable!. I think when they've loosened it in the socket they pull it with extractors - it just feels like they're shoving them about a bit, tbh!.

Then they give you a swab to bite on and you're done, all finished in half an hour - and most of that is waiting for the painkiller to set in!.

After that though, you need to count at least two days staying quiet at home!. Make sure you have lots of gauze at home for more swabs - mine bled for about 12 hours after!. Lots of painkillers as well! Use an ice-pack (20 mins on, 20 mins off) for the first day as well - I did and barely had any swelling at all!. Your jaw's going to be really sore, so don't try opening it too wide (mine's still sore today, actually - 3 days later!.!.!.)!. At night, try and sleep sitting up - it really helps the pain!. I forgot to the other night and after 4 hours I had to get up, I was in so much pain!. I think it's because when you're lying down, blood rushes to the head so you feel the wound more!.

Oh NB - eat well before you have your teeth pulled, and drink loads, because afterwards, you won't be able to face food or water!. I couldn't face even the thought of either for about 18 hours after!.

Good luck!Www@Answer-Health@Com

There's a good chance that the doc will want to give you a general anesthetic if you are having back teeth pulled, so it won't hurt at all while it's happening- you'll be asleep!. I had two wisdom teeth pulled not long ago, they put me under and it only took about 20 minutes to pull the teeth and I was awake within 45 minutes total!. I did not have much pain afterwards either, so it wasn't bad!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

With me I got the shots to numb !.But I got to tell you it still hurt very badly!. I'm 35 years old and I was crying like a baby!. So if your thinking of getting yours done ask to be put under!. You'll be thankful you did afterward!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
