Question: Is getting your tooth/teeth shaved hurt!?
I have braces but when they come off I think I have to get them shaved because my two front tooth arent even!. and others arent ethier does it hurt!? and do they numb you for it!? :S
the only reason my ortho is thinking of this because I also have a over bite so it hurts so the longer tooth really hurts!.

Working on the exterior portions of a tooth normally doesn't hurt, since the only nerves in the tooth are on the inside!. However, some people are sensitive to this type of work and might feel pain anyway!. You can certainly ask the dentist to give you some anesthetic so that you can't feel anything!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
I know two people that have had it done and they both said that it didn't hurt and they didn't even numb you for it!.
I shaved mine myself (which sounds horrible, but its not) and it was fine!. It felt really weird, but it worked! I also have another friend who does hers herself!. Thats where I got the idea!.

The edges of your teeth do no contain nerves!. If they are just smoothing the edges it should not hurt at all, but the noise may be a little unnerving!. If they are taking enough off to reach the nerves they will give you an anesthetic just like when you have a cavity filled!. Www@Answer-Health@Com
I had the same thing!. its really not that bad!. i had one tooth shaved!. and i had an underbite!. got a jaw surgery that pulled it up where it belonged!.!. now that hurt!.!. but my smile is PERFECT! now!. dont worry even if it does hurt it will heal and will be worth it! Www@Answer-Health@Com
i have had that done no it dosnt hurt but u can feel allitle bit of a vibration on ur teeth!. if you take an eletric toothbrush and turn it on & instead of putting the brush on your teeth put the back of it on!. it dosnt hurt too bad

I had it done to the edge of my tooth, my tooth was a little sensitive so it wasn't the best feeling but its not like it hurt terribly!. Don't worry about it!!Www@Answer-Health@Com
Really, it doesn't!. I had it done, and I really don't remember if they numbed my mouth (they might have), but It just feels like a fast vibration on your tooth!. Just as its starts to get really annoying!.!.!.its over! :) dont worry!Www@Answer-Health@Com
