Do all Orthodontists use Rubber Bands? (not elastics)?!

do ALL the orthodontists use Rubber Bands!? as in, the colorful ones that are on the braces!. not elastics!. i recently learned that i was getting braces on short notice!. i knew i needed them, but then my mom had made the appointment to get them in 2 weeks!. so i don't know much about them! i looked at my orthodontists website, and nothing helped!. i was just wondering!. i have to wear them for 24 months so i might as well KNOW something about them!.
