I think you need to speak with your dentist, or his/her technician about this since they would know best how long it has taken patients to recuperate from the surgery!. It seems you would need two days at home as the first day, I imagine, you would have to apply ice-packs to reduce the swelling and would want to use warm, salted, water rinses for comfort!. Due to the swelling, it doesn't seem there would be dentures ready for you to wear(!?)!. I believe that, after the swelling goes down you would have casts made to be sure the dentures fit you correctly!. As said, previously, think you must ask your dentist!. There isn't any reason I can think of which would keep you home from work for an extended length of time!. Two days to recuperate, half a day for the casts and then 7-10 later, another half day for the dentures to be fitted although, at this time, you may want to schedule your appointment for a Thursday so you can be off work for four days while you become accustomed to wearing them!. Do not allow your dentist to do this extensive oral surgery unless he/she has done this a few times previously (and recently)!. Begin a list of questions to ask prior to this being done especially regarding xrays as you must be certain there are no pieces of root left which may contain some infected tissue!. Find out, also, what type of antibiotic treatment you will be on and whether this is something you will begin a few days prior to surgery or, only, afterwards!. If some of your molar areas need packing, be sure there will be someone available at the times you will need this removed/changed and get an emergency number for you to 'phone, on the weekend, in case you have any concerns!. As a last thing, you might feel a bit ill afterwards so should ask about a prescription for something to offset nausea (be sure to get the prescription filled before your surgery)!. Hope you recuperate quickly!. Www@Answer-Health@Com
