Question: Metal Retainer vs Clear Retainer!?
How long does it take to make a Metal Retainer and how long does it take to make a Clear Retainer!.
I'm going to my orthodontist tommorow and they said im getting impressions for my retainer and then 3 weeks later im going to get it and get my braces removed!. it doesn't make sense because i thought it takes a couple of hours to make a retainer!. Please help me

Clear retainers take a shorter time to make then Metal!. The time varies!. Clear ones take only an afternoon!. I'm getting the metal ones!. I got my braces off 22nd and I'm going in for my retainer on Tues!. Its better for you to get the retainer earlier!. Since your teeth will shift!. Also Clear retainers are called Essix and Metal ones are called Hawley!.

I'm getting Hawley(metal)!. I did my research and Hawley seems better in the long run!. Much more durable, doesn't shift your bite!. It can last a life time and you can eat with them on(kind of)!. Essix, for example can break easily if you have a clenching problem!. And essix, tend to discolor overtime!. Www@Answer-Health@Com
