Question: Will soda ruin braces!?
i have braces and i drink alot coke and some of them broke last week so now shes calling the orthodontist and asking if coke ruined them!.!.!. if it is coke then i cant drink it no more until my braces are offWww@Answer-Health@Com

enless you drink like more than 2 cans every single day or something, however: soda contains a heck of alot of sugar!. when you have braces, obviously you know how hard it is to brush your teeth with them on!. and really, even though you may try your best tis just plain difficult to really clean your teeth well with them on!. so if you drink alot of soda!.!.!.and have braces!.!.!.youre gonna have a lot of soda that jsut sits on your teeth that you wont really be able to clean!. then youll have alot of surprise little cavities when you get your braces off!!!

coke did ruin them!. look at the ingredients on coke!.

just like acid will etch glass (destroying the surface), the acid in coke demineralized the enamel in your teeth!. the strength of the cement bond between the bracket and tooth needs strong enamel!. since the enamel was weakened, the bond was weakened and your brackets fall off!.
have your orthodontist evaluate your enamel!. I would recommend a daily prescription flouride rinse and decrease or stop your soda consumption!.

Soda ruins teeth period, braces or not!. My daughter had jaw surgery in 2005 and her Oral surgeon asked her if she drank pop especially Mountain Dew!. She told him she drank diet coke occasionally!. He said that if she drank sugared soda, especially Mountain Dew or 7 up he wouldn't even do her surgery!. We asked why!. He said that Mountain Dew actually melts the teeth and it can't even be brushed off!. He mentioned that it was similar to battery acid on teeth!. That he often has to pull entire mouthful of teeth of beautiful young people and it breaks his heart!. I later got dental implants and read this on my dental professional website!. Look at this young man and see for yourself what soda does to teeth let alone braces!.

any carbonated drink can make your brackets come off or staing the bands!. if you have clear brace, they will really get stained badly!. if you love coke, try drinking with a straw and brush your teeth right after drinking the coke!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
I don't know!. Maybe!. I drank a six pack of Dr!. Pepper 3 to 4 days a week for three years when I wore braces in highschool!. Nothing happened to them!. Www@Answer-Health@Com
All the soda probably detoriorated the cement that holds the brackets in place!. I would say cut back or brush your teeth after you are done drinking the soda!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
