I just got them,[for 18 months]
i wonder how long they will hurt =(
also,
i have to get them tightened in a month
how will they tighten my braces!?

My braces only bothered me the first time I got them on!. After 3 days they stopped hurting and I was able to eat pizza again!. The "tighten" your braces by changing the wire to a bigger wire that keeps its shape better!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

i have braces and here's what i know-
they hurt from 3-7 days (mine hurt for about four or five)!.
they tighten them by removing the wire and putting in a new one (plus putting in the colors of your choice)!.
btw- when you get them tightened take two ibuprofen exactly an hour before hand and an hour afterwards- it can get PAINFUL!.
plus eat a big meal before and something right afterwards: you won't feel like eating after that!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

They'll hurt for probably a week after they're first on and after each time they're tightened!. They tighten them by using a thicker wire and making it shorter so it pulls your teeth together!. Also, if they have you wearing rubber bands, you really should wear them all the time, or they might ahve to stay on even longer :OWww@Answer-Health@Com

The pain will go after 3/4 days and they tighten them by taking the wire off and put a slightly smaller one on usually!. It will hurt when they do this as well but not for long and gradually it will stop hurting when you go for tightening!. I have mine for 18 months too :D mine will be off for xmas though!. Finally its over! haha but a brace isn't really restricting so its ok!. =]

They should only be sore for about!.!.!. a week at the most!. So don't worry, once you get used to them, it gets better!.
And about the tightening, they'll put in a certain kind of wire, and then use those rubber bands to tighten them!. I think, I'm not positive, that's just what it seems like they're doing when they tighten mine!.

They will hurt for a few days!. Take some tylenol and use that mouth numbing spray!. Don't know the name of the equipment they use to tighten them!.!.!. I know the dentist puts it on the side and twists to tightenWww@Answer-Health@Com

they only hurt for a few days because your teeth are moving!. They don't really tighten them, they replace the wire with a smaller wire so it straightens out your teeth!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
