Will my old retainers realign my slightly shifted teeth?!

Question: Will my old retainers realign my slightly shifted teeth!?
I stopped wearing my retainers for a couple years after having braces!. I only had braces for 6 months because my teeth really weren't bad!. I just started to notice that my teeth were starting to shift a little!. Rumor has it if you start wearing your retainers again they act like invisalign!. I'm just wondering if that's fact or fiction!. Www@Answer-Health@Com

I saw my dentist about this just last week, because I was concerned that my teeth were starting to shift (I got my braces off about four years ago and my bite recently started to feel different) and he said that if my retainers still fit, to start wearing them at night, and they'd bring my teeth back to where they were right after I got my braces off!. If your retainers don't fit anymore, though, it means that your teeth have shifted quite a bit, and you'll need to be fitted for new retainers!. So, in conclusion, it's a fact that if you start wearing you're retainers again they'll act like invisalign!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

If you have stopped wearing retainers for couple of years then now these will not fit you!. You have to get the new ones made!. It is true that if the shifting is very less, wearing retainers again can help them or you can go for fixed type of retainers which are bonded towards the inner surface of the tooth!.
