Ok, tomorow i have an appointment w my orthodontist and i have a feeling that he may just take my braces off if my teeth look ready, But my friend told me that he definitley will not take them off tomorow because he hasn't taken molds for the retainer yet!. So question, Are the molds taken with the braces on!?!? Wouldnt it make more sense to take the mold after the braces are off!? That way the mold fits to my teeth!? not my teeth and braces!? right!? idk

My molds for retainer were made after I got my braces off, I think it was even the same day!. They make the mold then make the retainer fit to your teeth and usually you come back to the office to pick up your retainer and try it on to make sure it fits okay and doesn't hurt!. The mold for retainers should be made after removal of braces!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
the mold is for the roof of your mouth and behind your upper and lower teeth because that's where the plastic parts of the retainers fit!. the only part of the retainers which are on the front of the teeth (where your braces are) is the wire which will be adjusted using a tool that kinda looks like pliers by the ortho!. the retainers have to be ready when the braces come off because the new position of your teeth initially needs support or your teeth will start moving back to their original positions!. you'll have to wear them all the time (except when cleaning) for a little while then the ortho gradually reduces the time (ex!. just at night) according to what he/she thinks your teeth need!. i wore my retainers for years (but i never wear them now) and my teeth have near perfect alignment!. mine were made the same day i got my braces off!. also my lower retainer was removable!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
for retainers the impression for mould is taken after removing the braces!. so keep your fingers crossed as may be tommorrow your braces will be removed!. After braces you teeth will be cleaned and polished by the dentist and all the stains if any will also go!. You will definately feel great and look beautiful!. After i got my braces off they took the mold and asked me to come back later that day for the retainer! Getting the mold done is not very pleasant, but its worth it cause no more braces!. Good luck!Www@Answer-Health@Com
1!.the orthodontist will not take braces off early usually, because, just because ur teeth look ready and straight, doesn't mean that the cavitys that they r in,( not cavitys that ruing teeth, but simply the socket that holds teeth in mouth) r ready and tight enough yet, because when you move your teeth it is like when you have a stake in the ground and if you wiggle the stake around then the hole that it is in getts bigger and the stake then leans over to one side when you let go!. that is how ur teeth r!. but luckily your cavitys will tighten up in time!. so right now they r really big and your teeth will not stay straight enough for a retainer after a week!.
2!. when you get your braces off most ppl get a perminante retainer for the bottom and a removable one on the top!. when you get ur braces off they take molds of your teeth, not b4 u get them off!.
