Would you get a root canal if your tooth doesn't hurt?!

Question: Would you get a root canal if your tooth doesn't hurt!?
My dentist says my tooth which doesn't hurt needs a root canal!. The dentist says he wouldn't pull it cause it's a top tooth and there is sinus membrane that could create other problems if it was pulled!. My dental insurance sucks and will only pay $200 out of $945 and only like $200 of the $450 crown!. I thought it was better insurance as it's Blue Cross Blue Shield, but now that I see how poorly it is, I want to drop them, just don't know if I should go ahead and get this tooth fixed like the dentist is telling me!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Let me add my two cents as I have just made this decision myself!. If your dentist suggests you need a root canal and you seek a second opinion (which I think you should)!. Depending on what your "second" opinion says, please do yourself a favor and IF you have the tooth extracted, let an oral surgeon do it! I was not willing to spend the money on a root canal and still possibly loose the tooth in the future!. I opted for the extraction, but have ended up spending the same amount of money because my dentist ran into complications that he couldn't foresee and left me hanging!. I had to go to an oral surgeon to be treated and to clean up the tissue tearing and infection that was left behind!. Good luck!.

If you need a root canal, get it done!. The tooth doesn't hurt because the nerves are likely dead from the bacteria inside the canal!. If you don't get it fixed, the bacteria will eventually invade your gums, your bones, and cause a blood infection that could kill you!. I know this sounds really ridiculous, but it's true!.

Call around to different dentists and price shop!. Also check out dental schools!. You can usually get things done there for less than half the cost!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Get a second opinion!. If the second opinion thinks you need to have a root canal then you should get it done!. If you wait and lose the tooth entirely a dental implant can run about $4000 or more, and your insurance may not cover any of that (or very little)!.
A lot of dental insurance is a joke and covers very little, you aren't alone in that!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

17 years ago my Dentist told me I was in dyer need of a root canal, when I had absolutely no pain- I told him to forget it- And here I am 17 years later still with no pain and my teeth are still here and look great!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

hi,
please take into consideration that "pain" is a symptom and not a condition!
In other words: you can have no pain and still suffer from serious problems with your tooth as well as your general health!. For example:
Diabetes, cancer, hypertension and many other serious diseases start and last for years without any pain!. Pain tells us that there is a problem; yet the opposite is not true; i!.e!.: having no pain doesn't mean there is no problem, and even if it takes 17 years! Now that was about pain!.
Back to your condition: First, let us correct something! there is no tooth which could not be extracted! Sinus membrane is no problem for the specialists!
Second, When the dentist say a tooth should be extracted or endo treated " root canal treatment", he should explain WHY for the patient!.
Third, if the cause is for example having an abscess, then : YES, you should make the treatment, even if it is expensive, since loosing the tooth would be even more expensive!Www@Answer-Health@Com
