This is the advice I give my patients:
-Do not rinse your mouth for 24 hours after the extraction as this can disturb the clot!.
- Start warm water and salt 24 hours after extraction!. Get cup of warm water a teaspoon of salt and hold it in your mouth, then spit it out, do so 3-4 times a day for 5-7 days!.
- no smoking for 48 hours after extraction
- no alcohol for 24 hours after extractionWww@Answer-Health@Com

Hi my wife has just been though this one and i tried to tell her the same ie
I know that salt water will help with killing the bactria but we all know what it feels like to get salt into an open wound my advice would be to use a mouth wash called GENGIGEL available from most chemist shops it has an ingredient HYALURONAN found naturally in the body and will help you heal much more quickly and being natural will not aggravate the extraction siteWww@Answer-Health@Com

You must know if it has bled and if there is a clot in the gap!. I just watched what I ate and drank for a day or so and rinsed my mouth out with salt water every so often!. Also took painkillers!. Iv ad that much dental work and once had a dry socket (horrid) but I think that there must have been some bacteria in it anyway to have caused it!. Im sure you will be fine!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
