Several questions about the herbst appliance...?!

Question: Several questions about the herbst appliance!.!.!.!?
Ok, so I got a herbst appliance put in on Thursday morning, and it hurts SO bad! I can't open my mouth more than a few centimeters, so I've only been consuming liquids!. I also have painful blisters on the sides of my mouth where the screws are digging in!. Also, it's extremely visible even when my mouth is closed, because I have a small face and you can see where the screws are poking into the sides of my face!.

Is this normal!? And when will I be able to eat again!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
Ouch, im sorry to hear that, i just got my Herbst Appliance off, i have had it for abo ut 9 months!. When you first get them, your gonna hate them to death, i can guarantee that!. theres not much help to give you, even after having them myself, the best way to get through it is just to toughen up and get through all the beginning pain!. After a couple days you will be able to open your mouth much better!. The worst thing about them is that they are really visible, theres nothing you can do about it except try not to open your mouth to wide and just to not play with them!. The most i hate about them is the screws, there a *****, i just kind of lived through them even though they pinch and poke your cheek all the time!. Its absoultely normal to have all that pain, i had all that pain to!. Youll be able to eat again, just!.!.!.not as good!. Try not to eat gum, caramel, popcorn, and ice!. Other than that all foods are fine to eat!. Like i said before, youll get through the pain, it just takes a while, im sorry again that you had them, on the sunny side, at least when you get them off, youll have no overbite!. =)Www@Answer-Health@Com
