Answers:
I took ibuprofen when I first got my braces!. To make a "Braces Survival Kit", buy these things from Wal*Mart or a drugstore:

*Plenty of wax for your irritating brackets
*Orajel numbing solution for your cuts
*LOTS of soft foods, such as tomato soup, pudding, Jell-O, yogurt, ice cream, etc!.!.!.you shouldn't chew until you get more used to ur braces!.
*Lip gloss or Chapstick, to help with your cold sores, or you can use a stronger medication

***Try out this site for a Comfort Cover, which is super-relieving, special toothbrushes, flossers, and more!.!.!.!

I <3 it! It has really good stuff!.!.!.
You can also Google more stuff about braces to help you through the first few days, which are always the hardest!. You may need this stuff again after adjustments, joy!.!.

And lastly, don't worry, eventually, you'll hardly notice your braces are there! Always, always brush your teeth, floss, etc!.!.,
and call your orthodontist if you have any more problems!

try to eat hot food that's also easy to eat!. like congee or soup!. you might get tired of eating it until the pain goes away, but it definitely helps!. the heat from the soup helps make the wires expand, so that you don't feel as uncomfortable!. for the pain, try advil, in my experience, it works better than tylenol!. for the swelling, i don't really know, but try not to let your mouth touch the gums by puffing up your mouth!. (kinda sounds stupid, but it won't hurt as much) hope this helps you!
