Answers:
There are different types of braces: invisalyn (they are like plastic moulds of teeth that you slip on over your teeth and you cannot see them!. You can remove them for eating and brushing!.) Then there are normal braces, but you can have ceramic or metal brackets!. The metal ones work quicker, but the ceramic ones are not as visible and so many people choose them because they look more attractive!. The downside is!.!. they can become discolored!.

When you have the braces put on they will glue each bracket individually to each tooth!. They will do this by blowing air at your teeth throught a tube to keep them dry while they apply glue and press a bracket onto it!. Then they shine an ultra violet light on your teeth to set the glue!. Then they will put a wire between the brackets and then put bands or wrap wire around the brackets to keep the wire between them in place!.
You will go back for an appointment every month and at each appointment they will tighten your braces and may apply different applicances to move your teeth in the directions they want or rotate certain teeth which are crooked!. In the past I have had elastic bands hooked onto different brackets to pull teeth in other directions and once I had a spring like applicance between two teeth to push them appart from one and other!.
After the appointment your teeth will feel tight and it will hurt to eat for a few days, so just eat very soft foods and you can take a pain killer!. But don't worry this pain subsides after maximum 4 days and you feel fine then!. It's worth it!

Make sure you clean them well, you can buy little interdental brushes for cleaning between the wires and you can get "superfloss" from Oral B which has a hard bit at the end of the floss so you can thread it under the wire and floss even with braces!.
Good luck! It's very much worth it!.!. My teeth are already sooo much straighter and my sis had braces and her teeth are so perfect that they almost don't look real!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Hey sure! I got my braces off at the end of high school after wearing them for a couple of years!. I had a full set on the top and bottom!. Depending on what they want to do to your mouth, they may put in 'spacers' which go between your teeth and slowly reposition them!. One thing you should know is that the first couple of days are going to suck!. It's almost like a teething sensation where you want to bite something but if you did it would be excruciatingly painful!. It's because when they first put the strain on your teeth they uproot a little!. After a few days they start to heal and re root themselves!. It feels like your never going to feel normal with them on but trust me, you will!. After a short short time, they will feel totally natural!. Something else - at first your braces will irritate the inside of your mouth but you will quickly build up resistance to it and pretty soon it will feel normal again!. I have had mine off for 4 or 5 years now and I don't even remember having them, really!. I don't regret it,my teeth look great now and I think it's a good idea to go ahead and get it out of the way when you have the money/insurance for it!. But the main thing is - don't be discouraged by the way you'll feel for the first couple of days!. My dad decided to get braces a couple months back and he got impatient and got them taken off the next day!. He was a pretty big sissy about it- but to be fair he had a LOT of problems with his teeth!. If you are just closing gaps or fixing an overbite or something, it's not going to be too painful!. Plus you can take medicine and you feel fine!. Anywho, hope that helps some!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
