How Successful Are Root Canals in children?!

Question: How Successful Are Root Canals in children!?
My nephews dentist told my sister that there is a high failure rate for children with root canals!. So Im wondering if thats true or if their just saying that because he's on medicaide!? theyre sayin they have to pull 3 of his front teeth because of the so called failure rate and hes only 4 so any input on this would be greatly appreciated!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I would get a second opinion, but if the child has medicaide, then they won't cover any fancy treatment!. The success rate of doing "root canals" on baby teeth is not as great as on permanent teeth but it does work!. That being said, we rarely do it on anterior teeth!. These teeth must be really decayed and will eventually absecess which may harm the permanent teeth which are forming!. He won't be losing these teeth for 2-3 more years so they may want to play the odds if they can't afford treatment!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

When my daughter was 2 I took her to a dentist, they said she needed a root canal on her front tooth because the tooth was chipped, I walked out and never went back!. She's 5 now, still has that tooth and never complains about it, it doesnt hurt at all!.

My advice, if your nephew isnt in any pain from him teeth then dont put him through it, they are just baby teeth, they will fall out!. You could also try going for a second opinion!.!.!.!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I had a root canal in a baby tooth when I was a little girl!. They did not pull any of my teeth!. The root canal held until the tooth was ready to fall out!. In fact, it took longer to fall out than it should have!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

here in uk they wouldn't dream of doing a root canal on a child's first tooth as his second teeth are already in the gums waiting to break through, and could result in damaging themWww@Answer-Health@Com
