Is having a root canal going to hurt?!

Question: Is having a root canal going to hurt!?
Or will it just be uncomfortable!? And what does it mean to have your tooth crowned!? Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
Yes, it will hurt, but not as badly as you would expect!. I just had my first one finished yesterday!.

The roots of a tooth I had crowned (I'll explain that later in my post) a few years ago apparently got upset and I had to have a root canal!.

Although I went to the dentist immediately when I felt even the slightest pain, the problem had been going on for a while, so it took me three visits to get it completed!.

The thing that hurts the most is two parts!. One, the shots to get you numb!. No amount of topical is going to stop that!. Luckily, it only hurts for a few seconds, just like getting a cavity filled!. Except that with a root canal, you need several shots!. I think I lost count at 6!. Some of them went into an area that was already numb, so I didn't feel all of them!.

The rest of the procedure does not hurt, but it's uncomfortable with the thing they put in to keep your jaw open and the rubber dam so nothing goes into the mouth!.

If they can finish that day, you're good!. But if they need to allow the medication they put in there some time to work, they'll have you come back in a few weeks!. They usually won't numb you for that one!. If they don't, you may feel a sharp pain when they are going into the canals!. It was like a pin prick!.!.!.almost like an electrical shock!. Other than that, it's no problem!.

The worst part is the shots to get you numb!.

Now for the crown!.!.!.what they do is they file your tooth down until it's just a tiny little stub!. Then they take a crown (basically a specially-made fake tooth with a hole in it) and put it over your stub of a tooth!. The crown and your stub get sealed together!. There is also usually a device of some sort placed under the gum to help keep the crown in place!.

The procedure is not super-painful either!. A lot like getting a cavity filled, but there's usually a few more numbing shots, and it is sore afterward!.

Oh, in case you were wondering, if you already have a crown and then need a root canal, they drill through the crown and then you have to have your regular dentist put in a filling!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Personal experience, My root canal was very painful, I wasn't responding much to the novicaine and I felt so much!. He finally drilled a hole in my tooth and stuck the syringe into my nerve canal and it was the worst pain I've ever felt in my life but within seconds it was completely numb!. I bled really badly and I still have pain in that tooth now and then ( I have a crown now ) The crown is like a fake tooth they put over your other tooth, your tooth that had the root canal will resemble a volcano, and the crown is basically a "mask" to cover it and make it look like a tooth!. I had that put on without any pain at all! :D Good luckWww@Answer-Health@Com

it should only b slightly uncomfortable but id advise taking some painkillers after it for when the anaesthetic wears off!. as you are removing the nerve and blood supply of the tooth during a root canal treatment there shouldnt b much pain as the nerves will b dead

a crown is a metal or porcelain shaped cover that is placed on/over a tooth to replace any bits of lost tooth (for example on a tooth that has half cracked away) making the tooth look like a full tooth againWww@Answer-Health@Com

No two ways about it - there will be pain involved, especially when they are scraping out the canal!. The crown is a porcelain (usually) replacement for the tooth they do the root canal on!. You do not need to get the crown right away even though the dentist will try to scare you into it!.!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

With modern techniques and anesthetics people report that having a root canal treatment is about as unremarkable as having a cavity filled!. Should you experience any discomfort, signal your student or endodontist, who will do everything possible to make you comfortable!.

I've had 2 of them and neither 1 hurt!. The second one had to be done in 2 visits though!. Having a tooth crowned is when the dentists puts pretty much a fake tooth over the natural tooth that had the root canal!. Good Luck !!!!Www@Answer-Health@Com

I've had several and you will be numbed up to the max!. You won't feel a thing!. After they are done they will give you ibuprofen for pain and infection!. Take it as prescribed!!! Don't worry, it will be fine!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
