Question: To Dentists, please help!?
Hello, so I am now in grade 11, I have one more year to go to uni!.
I am planing to be a dentist, and I really want to know what and for how long do I have to study in uni!. I have been told it's only 5 years, is that true!? I am also planing to open my own clinic (but that's another story) anyways, so could anyone tell me how the studying in college works!? and do I have like to choose a specific major, or its only dental, not like orthodontic or general dentist or whatever!? please help,

Going into college you are a "pre-dental" major but thats not really a major so you have to major in something like biology!. You will be taking a lot of gen ed's just like every other major and then taking a lot of bio/ chem classes to start taking the requirements for dental school!. So, you have 4 years of undergrad and then 4 years of dental school and then more if you want to specialize (ie: Ortho, Perio etc!.)!. You have to study a lot and make sure you have a great GPA when applying to dental school!. You must also have great DAT scores which is the dental school admittance test!.
