Answers:
you didn't say if u r having this done to u or just curious so, a root canal is a procedure to drill/clean out the inside of the tooth, pull or kill the root , put pins in to hold the walls of the tooth from breaking and fill the tooth!. it is painful, and if u don't have really good teeth or tooth care they usually only last a few years!. i don't want to scare u but my daughter had it done to her and the dentist couldn't finish it all in one day so she had a temp put in and had to have it all redone on the next visit!.about a week later!. she was not a happy camper and had to have the tooth pulled about 3 years later!. The tooth is already weakened due to decay!. Sometimes the tooth can even appear fine where a cavity is not visible except on the x-ray!. Then a Dentist will drill and it can just grow wider !. The main point is the decay has reached the root which keeps the tooth alive!. Usually causing major discomfort!. A typical root canal procedure would involve cleaning the decay thoroughly with a hand piece!. When the root is exposed the Dr!. will administer more lidocaine directly into the root which hurts for a couple secs then stops and the procedure is continued!. Little diffrent size files are used to take out the root leaving your tooth pretty much dead!. After that the canals where the roots were are rinsed with a bleach rinse sodium hypochloride!. To ensure it is a sterile environment!. Then rubber pieces that resemble toothpicks are measured to the length of canals!. They are packed in burned and with that the canals are sealed!. x--rays are taken during process to make sure measurements are accurate!. Then a final a temporary filling called cavit is placed and you are done!. Good luck!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
