This sounds like Thrush (oral candidiasis)!. Most people I know think that only nursing babies get it, however if you have preexisting health issues or have been on antibiotics recently, it is possible to suffer through this as an adult as well!.

Thrush makes the tongue sort whitish, like after you drink a glass of milk, only it doesn't come off if you swish with water or mouthwash!. Your tongue will feel rough and "bumpy" because of the irritation!. If you try and scrub this "coating" off it will hurt (and burn) badly!. If you have had thrush for awhile, you will actually remove layers of the skin when scrubbing your tongue, which will cause excruciating pain and bleeding!.

Thrush is easily treatable, but make sure to get to the doctor soon, otherwise it can spread to ickier places, iykwim!.

I hope you feel better soon!.

Oh, and take my advice, don't search out photos to try and identify it!. ::shudder:: I think medical textbooks and online medical studies only photograph people who have had it for the last decade!. (>_<) Some of those photos turned MY stomach, and that is not easily accomplished!. Luckily a mild case won't look ANYTHING like some of those photos!.

Hope I've helped some!.!.!. get well soon! ^_^Www@Answer-Health@Com
