Question: What is a Dental Hygienists salary in America!?
I will be qualifying in the UK as a hygienist this summer coming, 2009!. I am looking at my options to move abroad, with this qualification can I do so!? Also, what are the salaries in different parts of the work, especially america!?

If you want to move here (USA) to be a dental hygienist, you have to take a Boards Exxam (both written and clinical) and get licensed in which ever state you plan on living in!. You will be responsible for finding your own patient!. The patient must need Scaling and Root Planing in a quadrant and a half (incase you need extra teeth with calculus to add to your quadrant)!. Im not sure how you schooling in the UK is transfered here, but I know that the school you complete your program from must be accredited!.
As for pay, my first job at a hygienist, I made $32 an hour!. The second job, I made $70,000 dollars a year!. A very nice salary and worked 4-5 days a week (alternating 4 days one week and 5 days the next and so forth)!.
I'd call the Dental Board of which ever state you are planning to move to!. Example: if you are moving to Missouri, google the Missouri Dental Board and call and ask them what you need to do to move here and get licensed as a hygienist!.
