Question: Is it possible for teeth to separate after braces have come off!?
I had really huge gaps in my teeth before my braces!. I had them for four years, and they were taken off in 2001!.

Your teeth will absolutely reestablish a gap without retainers!.
We recommend retainers forever! You should wear them every night until 6 months after your wisdom teeth come in or are removed, then wean down to a few nights a week!.
We have patients in their 50's who still visit us and wear their retainers 8-16 hours each week!.
Their teeth are beautiful!
Go back to wearing retainers at least 3-4 nights each week!. If you can't manage that, look in to permanent retainers!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Yes, it is true!. Retainer can keep holding your teeth in new place after you got your braces off!. But if you have a tiny wire behind your teeth, then it shouldn't be fine!. If your orthodontist means the retainer that you wear for sleep, yes there are still chances for your teeth to move but if you have that tiny wire behind your teeth, you should be fine!. unfortunatly its very true!. i had the same problem and i had braces for 2 1/2 years and got them off in 2006 and just within about 6 months of not wearing my retainer regularly and my ortho had to put these wedges in my gums to push them together!. they were literally pieces of wood and he had to jam them in there and it was the worst pain i have ever felt in my life and my gums bled like fountains!. its the worse expierence ever and you should just suck it up and wear your retainers at night because otherwise youre going to have to face something like that!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
Yes, your teeth can drift after you have your braces removed!. That is the reason that orthodontists usually ask patients to wear retainers!. Retainers simply keep the teeth in the position they were in a the end of the orthodontic treatment!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
