These new fillings are hurting my teeth..?!

Question: These new fillings are hurting my teeth!.!.!?
Ever since I got my fillings redone (about a week ago), I can't chew ice or even drink semi-cold beverages without feeling a lot of pain!. I know I've always had sensitive teeth but not to this extent!. Drinking things that are even just A LITTLE BIT cold is painful! This is ridiculous!. Does this go away!? Should i tell my dentist!? Any advice would be appreciated!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Firstly, dear Neetalia, would you please only contribute useful info from personal experience or knowledge rather than always redirect people to another website!? I've been to that website and it is biased and crappy!. I wouldn't trust it much!.
Now, back to the problem!.!.!.
I am assuming that you had white fillings done (composites)!. During the setting reaction of the composite, there will be some setting shrinkage!. If this is not carefully controlled by the dentist, then the filling will pull away from the bottom and side of the cavity, leading to sensitivity!. The fillings should be built up in small increments (<2mm at a time), and a low-shrinkage composite be used - you can get down to 1% nowadays!. Also, ideally the entire cavity should be surrounded by enamel along all edges for a secure seal!.
In contrast, amalgams do not shrink, and post-op pain is rare!.
I suggest you raise this with the dentist!. Sometimes redoing the fillings and building up in smaller increments will settle the teeth!. Sometimes you might have to change to amalgams!. Www@Answer-Health@Com

You should tell your dentist about the sensitivity!. Tooth sensitivity after the fillings are redone is a common problem!. Normally it goes after 7-10 days!. You can try using desensitising toothpaste!. for more information on fillings you can visit the following very informative website

They also have the facility of free dental consultation from a dentist!. You can try that!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Yes, get it checked out!.

I once had a problem like what you are describing and the dentist had left a microscopic piece of filling in my gum! Can you believe it!?

So you may need another x ray !.!.!.!.

Good luck!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
