Recovery time on wisdom teeth removal + help with some "tooth" terms?!

Question: Recovery time on wisdom teeth removal + help with some "tooth" terms!?
So I know it has been asked a lot on here, but I keep seeing things I do not understand like: "dry socket"!? and "impacted"

So all I know is that my wisdom teeth, the two bottom ones are growing in sideways and I'm having them taken out tomorrow!.

Now, my question is about the recovery time:
So I am missing class tomorrow so I can go get these out, and I cannot possibly miss class again on Monday so do you think that I will be in condition to drive about 40 miles sunday night if my surgery is on Friday morning!?
Also, is the pain so bad that I will not be able to walk up and down the UCLA hills to class and to pay attention in class!?

How is talking like !? I am a French major and I'm sure i will need to fully converse in French on Monday!.

By the way I am 19 , going onto 20- I hear it is easier to heal when one is younger!?

Answers:
I've had all 4 wisdom teeth removed (impacted) between the ages of 20 and 25!.

Impaction is your teeth have not surfaced!. They are under the gum and most often are growing in sideways!. The fear that dentists have is:
the tooth can press on a nerver, crowd other teeth out or become a source of infection!.

Removing these teeth is a preventative measure!. Dry socket is a complication that involves the bony area where the tooth was removed, it does not form a solid clot and can become very painful!. The dentist has to "pack" this area with gauze!.

This does not occur with every type of extraction!.

The first day you will definitely be in pain and may have to take a strong pain killer to get you through the night or even have to take it for a couple of days!. Then the pain will start to decrease and you can take Tylenol or Motrin!. You can use cold compresses to help bring the swelling down!.

Gargle with warm salt water!. Be careful of the foods that you eat!. The first few days---applesause, yogurt, jello, etc!.!.

Its just better to stay away from spicey foods or those that may irritate your gum to chew!.

By Monday you should be fine!. You may be sore, but the pain will be tolerable!.

Good luck to you!.

The recover time is depend in the surgery operation
BTW
you can decrease that pain by doing follow:
1- don't change the Cotton which is put on that tooth after extraction
2- after 1/2 hour remove that cotton and don't use another one
3- after 2 hours eat some thing cold, and don't wash ur mouth
4- after 24 hours wash ur mouth byusingg quite hot water ( around 40 degree)
4- useAspirinn if there is pain

That will beuse fulll for u

A dry socket is where the tooth has been pulled and the clot has been washed away or otherwise removed, leaving the socket - which is really your jawbone - exposed to air!. Impacted means the teeth are growing in sideways, physically impacting the neighboring teeth!. this is a perfect condition for bacteria to grow!.

Do NOT suck through a straw, on a sucker, or smoke!. Thats the hardest part for me being a smoker!. the suction in your mouth can pull the clot right out!.

You will be fine as far as the meds they use to sedate you by Friday night!. As far as pain medicine goes, do not drive on it if you havent taken it before!. im usually fine after an extraction by the end of the day, but im an old pro at this!.!. 17 teeth gone!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

You'll be fine, just follow the dentist's instructions!.

Dry Socket is bad!.!.very bad!. It's an infection that occurs when the healing clot is disturbed and a new clot isn't formed which in turn exposes the bone in the socket!. ouch!. You can avoid dry socket by not drinking through a straw and especially do not smoke!.

Impacted simply means that the tooth is still under your gums!.

Everyone heals differently!. I had my wisdom teeth out on a thursday!. On friday I iced my face and was out of commission because of the iv sedation!. Saturday I was dirt biking all day, then went to a concert that night!. Just depends on how you heal!.

You'll be fine!. Just remember to ice to reduce the swelling and no straws or smoking!. Www@Answer-Health@Com

I got mine out last year, it really depends on you as to how long it takes for recovery!.!.!.

All of my wisdom teeth were impacted (squished together under the gum) so it took a little longer for me then some others!.!.!.
Although I was able to go take my drivers test the next day, i was nice and puffy and looked and sounded like a chipmunck haha

I suggest that you take the meds they give you, and keep ice on your cheeks!.!.!. it makes it feel a world better! haha and take it easy on the chewing hard things!.!.!. your best choice would be jellos, soups and the like for food!.!.!.!.

You should be alright for going to school on Mon, just take it easy, most teachers will understand if you cant talk much etc!.!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

depends!.!.!.I was out of it for 3 to 4 days and in tons of pain but mine were impacted which means they actually had to cut layers of my jaw off to get them out cause they were growing sideways!. painkillers made me sick to my stomach and I threw up blood for days!. if you are being put to sleep for this chances are you might need more than 2 days to recover!. I was 18 when I had mine removed!. dry sockets are very painful if you get them!. they are by not taking proper care after your teeth are removed and increased if you smoke or drinks things through a straw for a couple of weeks after having your wisdom teeth removed!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I'm not sure about "dry socket", but an "impacted" tooth is one which has not emerged to its full height!. It may be partially buried in the gum tissue or attached to the jawbone (like mine was)!. Just makes getting it out a little more interesting!.

I can't speak for all wisdom tooth experiences, but I had mine out in about 1991, and the painkillers I received were fantastic!. I actually never had stiffness in my jaw, though I know many people who did to a degree!. I barely had to modify my diet, and the only real side effect I experienced was "chipmunk cheeks"!. So unless you have a photo shoot scheduled for later that week, I wouldn't worry about it!.

Btw, I was 21 when I had mine out!.

Good luck!!Www@Answer-Health@Com
