How do you clean a mouth guard?!
Question: How do you clean a mouth guard!?
I've got a mouth guard for kickboxing and I was just wondering if there is a special way to clean it, or should I just clean it under warm, soapy water!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Oh boy, some of the things people say to do crack me up!. lol!. What I tell all my patients with sports guards or night guards is to brush it with your toothbrush and toothpaste after you take it out!. Just get all the white plaque off of it!. I'm guessing if you only wear it for kickboxing, you don't have it in all night, therefore, don't have a lot to actually brush off!. So a good scrub with your toothbrush is all it will need!. If you do have plaque (white) that starts to build up, get a denture cleaner (efferdent is a good one) and clean with that!.
I would refrain from using any cleaning products, vinegar, hydrogen peroxide, etc on it, for it might change the color of it and will make it taste horrible! You really don't need to soak it in anything since you aren't wearing it over night (when our mouths get the most plaque buildup)!. People that wear these at night experience that more so than you will!.
Have fun with kickboxing! (my fiance was a pro Muay thai kickboxer, and we LOVE that sport!)!.
~edit~ Also, if you soak it in boiling water for 2-3 minutes like someone stated on here, you will ruin your gaurd!. It will get distorted and nt fit right, possibly even melt! Be careful!.!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

You could use white vinegar or denture cleaner!. I've used both and they work great!. Vinegar can taste a little weird though!. You can find denture cleaner at any drug store or Wal-Mart for a reasonable price!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
