Am I the only one that thought about this?!

Question: Am I the only one that thought about this!?
Ok I got a retainer for my bottom teeth last month and they told me to take it out when I eat and sleep!. Eating I obviously need to take it out but why sleeping!? I learned that a retainer helps keep the teeth in place so the bone can form there and hold it in place so they dont migrate!.

Since I have to take it out at night, wouldnt that defeat the whole purpose since the teeth have to be in a constant position for the bone to form there!? I thought about that a few days ago and have been wondering about it ever since!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Good Question!. Well my sister is a dental assistant and i asked her the same question!. She said that you couldn't wear your retainer all the time because then your teeth wouldn't be able to move the slightest bit and even though you don't want them to move they have to do a little change (nothing you can notice)!. This is so you don't get an infection because if your teeth are always held together then they get infected!.
Thats not really detailed but if you want to know more you could ask your orthodontist!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I would call the dentist and ask them if that's what they really meant!. We usually tell patients to keep their retainer in all the time except when they eat!. If you have a retainer after getting your braces off you should be wearing it as much as possible!. Same thing if it is a retainer like Invisalign!. Www@Answer-Health@Com

I think you should confirm from your dentist again whether you really have to remove the retainers at night because retainers are supposed to be worn day and night initially and then only at night!. For more information on retainers after braces you can visit the following very informative website
