First time with braces - help!!!?!

Question: First time with braces - help!!!!?
I'm 13, and I just got braces today for the first time!. Nothing too serious - just some minor corrections (I'll only have them on for 6 months)!. feel soooo weird!! I know thats to be expected, but what are some things I can do to make it easier!?!?!? So far, I've taken an Ibproufen, and had no pain (cause of the medicine), but I know I'll probably have to keep taking them!. I can't chew at all!! I just eat yogurt, soup, whipped cream, smoothies, and mashed potatoes!. If I chew anything, it feels like the braces are coming off, and a lot of food gets stuck in them!. What else do I need to know!. Should I really brush 3 times a day, and if so, is it OK, if the day-time one is about 2 hrs!. after I eat lunch!? How long does it take to get used to them!? Any obvious foods to stay away from!. I was told no hard things, no sticky, chewy things, etc!. Anything special for the first 48 hrs!. while the glue fully dries!? What about ice cream!? Does the cold do anything the first couple days!? Thanks so much!!! :)Www@Answer-Health@Com

It hurts/feels really weird for about 1-3 days each time you get an adjustment!. I never had to take anything for my teeth (I had braces on for 2 years) Be really happy they are only on for 6 months!

As far as the eating thing goes it does feel really weird kind of like your teeth are moving too, but your eating the right things its only your first day so in about 3 days you'll be eating regular things again!
I'd say it takes about a month or 2 to get completly used to them i had them on for so long that it felt like something was missing when they took them off!
you can eat ice cream, I was really bad and ate all the things they told me not to like Gum, caramels, beef jerky and starburst!.!. i only popped a brace off 2 times that was when i was brushing my teeth and on the starburst don't freak out if that happens your orthodontist will just glue it back on no major harm done!

brush as you normally would they have special tools that you can use to floss too which aren't that expensive and can be bought at any pharmacy i believe!.

Have fun and 6 months is nothing trust me it will fly by!Www@Answer-Health@Com
