Question about having braces?!
Question: Question about having braces!?
I just got my braces about a month and a half ago!. When i get my braces off in 3 years can i bite down on regular food and all!? Or do i still have to cut it up and then eat it!? I am not wanting to sound dumb but right now i can't bite into anything my orthodontist said!. Will it hurt if i bite into something later on down the road when i get the braces off!? To whole point of braces is to bring your teeth back into proper alignment!.
To do that, your orthodontist tightens the wire to bring your teeth slowly back to where they should be!. Because they're being moved in your jaw, it will, obviously, hurt (as I'm sure you're experiencing right now)!. As your teeth settle into their new positions, the pain will decline!.
However, each time your orthodontist tightens them, it'll hurt again!. So be prepared for that!. Also, the ends of the wire may poke into your cheek, so get your ortho to bend them so they're not so sharp!.
Being a past veteran of braces, I suggest that you go by the "thumb-nail rule": Do not let anything enter your mouth that is larger than your thumb nail!. So either cut up your food well or start eating rice!. The rule ensures that whatever you can't chew, you can at least swallow!.
When you get your braces off, initially your teeth will feel a bit slimy!. Don't worry, there's nothing wrong, it just happens!. But by that stage, your teeth should be in their proper positions without needing to be further moved, so they shouldn't hurt anymore!. Your ortho might make you wear a retainer, but that only serves to keep your teeth where they are, so they're not moved anymore, therefore: NO PAIN!.

i mean, when you first get your braces off, they'll feel so much better, but then, when you get your retainer, it hurts for awhile!.
i don't see why you can't bite into anything!? do your teeth still hurt!? mine did for awhile!.!.!.i think after 2 months it was better and i ate normally!. but when i got the tightened!.!.!.i was eating anything but pudding for days!. :(Www@Answer-Health@Com

no you'll be able to eat normal again, when i had my braces on i could barely eat when i would go to get them tighten and then i had to wait like 3 weeks for it to come back to normal and then the same thing would happen every time i got them tightened!.!. you should be perfectly fine when you get them off!Www@Answer-Health@Com
