i've got em!. they aren't as bad as everyone says!. they're real sore a few hours after, and the next day!. i ate right after i got them so it wouldnt hurt when i tried to earlier!. the brackets (which go on your teeth) and the wires (what connects them) work together and pull your teeth closer together!. thats why it hurts so much when they go on and after they're tightened!. after awhile you'll get used to them!. chapstick is really good b/c your lips may get dry!. just keep good care of them and don't eat the foods they tell you not too!.brush alot too, cos if not then you can get stains!.

But the orthodontist will polish your teeth, and then size your back molars to put metal rings on, it doesn't hurt! And then the ortho, will put cement (totally safe cement) and put a blue light on it so it dries!. And then you get to pick as many colours as you want for elastics!. He will put brackets on with cement and use the blue light again (doesn't hurt)!. He will out a wire in the align of your brackets and put it in holes in the back where the rings are!. To hold the wire in place they put the elastics of your choice, around the elastics and then, your done! Voila!Www@Answer-Health@Com

The first appointment is a bit fiddly because they will be fitting the brackets!. You'll have a fairly flexible wire, and then each time you go they will put a tighter wire on so that it moves your teeth!. sometimes you have eleastic bands too to help move your teeth to where they should be!. Once the fixed brace is removed, you wll be fitted with a retainer (a removable brace) which you need to wear as directed - usually all the time for a few months, then night time only, then weaned off it completey!.
