Question: How bad do root canals hurt!?
i'm 14 years old and my dentist said i might have to get a root canal!.
i'm worried that'll it'll hurt REALLY bad!

They use more powerful pain killers for a root canal, and it takes longer than a regular filling, but it shouldn't hurt at all!. If you feel any pain, just let the dentist know, and he/she will increase the dose!.
You'll be given medication to take home!. Just make sure you take your meds on schedule, and you should be fine!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Well I don't want to scare you anymore than you already are but it hurt pretty bad!. But think of it this way, the pain that tooth is causing will be completely gone since they remove the entire root!. I couldn't have any sort of heat or cold near my tooth or it was horrifically painful!.
Just keep your doctor informed throughout the duration!. They can give you as much local anasthetic (what we normally call "novacaine") as you need throughout!. I kept asking for another dose about every 2 minutes!.

not at all if the use gas they take all the nerves out its just a long surgery lots of drilling wear a ipod this helps alot trust me!. i had a accident tha broke my jaw and all my molars on the top and bottom on my left side had 2 root canals done one day it took around six hours than had the other two on top done!. its hard to get use to the crowns but hopefully he we give you the gas this really helped Www@Answer-Health@Com
You will get novican to make it not hurt!. Make sure that if it starts to wear off you tell the dentist!. Mine wore off and it hurt like hell but i toughed it out!. MIne hurt after the surgery to but I was not on any pain meds!. if you get vicodin(painkillers) you will be fineWww@Answer-Health@Com
I just had a root canal 6 months ago and was dreading it!. Honestly, I felt no pain!. They numb you up really well!. The only uncomfortable part is sitting in the chair for so long with your mouth wide open!. Good Luck!Www@Answer-Health@Com
