Braces question???? ?!

Question: Braces question!?!?!?!? !?
Got my braces tightened today!. They put these 2 clear rubber band type things on each side of my mouth, attached to my braces!. Like, there's these little bits of metal sticking up from one of the metal blocks at the side of my mouth and at the bottom also, and the band is wrapped around them so I can't open my mouth all that wide!. (Hope you know what I'm talking about)!. My ortho never told me what they were for though, so to anyone who's had them before, what exactly do they do!?

Thanks =]Www@Answer-Health@Com

If their detatchable, and you have maybe two packets of rubber bands, and you put them in yourself!.!.and they attach to the bottom and top jaw together then it's to move the jaw, maybe most likely up, forward, side or back etc!. if they're attached then its most likely to move then teeth around!.!.!? The reason for the rubber bands is to correct an over bite!. They pull the upper arch back!. The bits of metal are hooks that are holding the bands!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I think it is if you had teeth out to pull the teeth slowly into the gap!.
