I have had 4 fillings in my teeth, and for some odd reason I am scared to DEATH to have to go in and get another one tomorrow! The dentist saw another cavity and tomorrow I have to go get it filled! Ugh!.!.!.!.!. I am scared! The thing I hate about it is being numb! It only takes 2 minutes for them to fill it but I hate being NUMB!

Hi! Im a scaredy cat too, but im going to school to become a hygienist, and I already have my diploma in dental assisting!. The reason they numb you, is because when they drill the tooth to remove decay, it can be VERY painful!. You have nerves, etc in the root of your tooth and sometimes they drill pretty deep!. Believe me, you do NOT want to feel that!. I know sometimes even with anesthesia, I can feel it, and they give me more!. Get the cavity filled, if you dont, it could get worse and you would need a root canal!. And then a crown on top of it, and thats alot of money!. So just try to be brave, many people would LOVE to be able to go to the dentist but they cant because they dont have insurance, etc!. Good luck!.!.its not that bad! =0)Www@Answer-Health@Com
Depending on where the cavity is you may not need to be numb!. Bring in an MP3 player listen to your music and relax it will be over before you know it!. Just tell the Dr that you would rather do the filling without anesthetic and if it does hurt you will raise your hand and then he can numb you!. But if you said it will only take 2 min do without cause it will take longer to get numb!. Www@Answer-Health@Com
No one likes to get a filling!. I think it's the feeling in your stomach that just makes you nervous!.

Getting a filling usual has something to do with your nerve in your tooth or around the nerve!. If they were to skip numbing you it would be really uncomfortable!. iPods help a lot and watching television!. It's over in a jiffy and nothing is wrong with your tooth for now one!.

The filling will be over before you know it bring your ipod with you to keep your mind off it!. You can ask the dentist to use the short acting freezing!. Also, a warm cloth on your cheek around the area will help diffuse the freezing faster!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
