Problem.......?????help?!

Hi, well I have a problem!. I always have jaw pain, like around the muscles, and it's really starting to bug me!. I had a big overbite a few years ago, but then I got braces and that problem was fixed!. But now I always feel like my teeth are not aligned, and feel the need to bite down hard!. A few years ago my first orthodontist I saw said I would probably need jaw surgery, and so I got a second opinion!. Now I feel like I made a stupid mistake because I have pain all day long, and I think I have a receding chin, but I know that if I was going to get surgery my insurance would not cover it because of cosmetic reasons, and my mom would say no!. Do you know what I can do!? Also, I am going to tell my dentist soon, but I am not sure how to bring it up!.
