i just got bracers yesterday and i was just wondering how long will it take before my teeth stop being painful and i can eat solid food again!?

I had braces for two years and I just got them off!. The first week is the worst, but after they will be fine!. Eat soft foods and take some Tylenol!. There is really no cure for the pain!. After having braces for about a month, you will not even realize that you have them!. The two years will really just fly by (or it did for me!)!. The best advice that I can give you is to BRUSH your teeth at least two times everyday!. Your teeth will get stains and rot away if you do not brush them!. Every time you eat, you get lots of food stuck in our teeth, much more then when you get them off!. At first it will be very annoying, but after a while you'll get used to it!. Also DO NOT CHEW ICE! I chewed ice the fourth week with my braces and messed them up very badly!. 7 of the brackets fell off and the orthodontist was very mad!. I chewed gum with my braces and ate the same food that I normally did!. They gave me a long speech about not eating certain foods, but after a couple months I gave up and ate whatever I wanted!. They say that to you because they don't like having to replaces broken things, but it doesn't really matter to you!. When you get your rubber bands tightened, some people say that it really hurts, nut it only hurts depending on how messed up your teeth are!. At the beginning it hurt for three days every time I got them tightened, but after that, It just hurt for a couple hours, if that, after wards!. When you get your braces tightened, always choose a dark color! I do not know if you are a boy or girl, but if you choose yellow, white, or clear, they will look good the first couple days, but then they will stain and look really gross!. Also, people look better with dark colors, like blue is the best!. Sorry this is so long!! When you get them off!.!.!.it is so exciting!. At first when you get your braces on you will think that you look a little funny, but then when you get used to them you will look fine!. When you get them off, I was actually a little sad!. Because you think that you look a little good with them on!. When you get them off it feels sooooo good!. You can feel all of the stress and tension away!. your teeth are very very slimy and at first you think that you look weird and like a rabbit!. But after a week you get used to it and you look amazing!. My teeth were rally white even when I got them off because a brushed so well!. I also got crest whitening strips at CVS and that helped, too!. When you get your retainer, it actually hurts your teeth the first two days really bad!. You cannot talk at all and you have a lisp!. You should read aloud to yourself to get used to talking with it!. I stopped wearing mine all day because I couldn't get used to talking and it annoyed me so much!. Now I just wear mt retainer at night and my teeth are still fine!!

They should be fine after about 4 to 5 day at the lastest!. I ate after about solids after about 3 days when I had mine!. They were score when they put them on and they got score again everything they tightened them!. I only had them on the top though!. Just do as the ortho!. tells you to and you should be fine!.

Ok!. I had braces for a little over a year (I have them off now), but I have to get them back on again for another 1,2,3 years!. It usually takes 3-4 after getting braces for your teeth to be alright to to eat solid foods!. When I first got braces I could eat pizza by day 2 or 3!. It wasn't to bad either!.
Here's My 1 Year Experience
Ok, well, first it started out when I was about 9 (I'm 13 now) and I had my first ortho appointment!. My ortho said I should get head-gear instead of braces because I had an under-bite!. But I'm like no way!. (I never said that to him though!. lol) Well a couple months past when I was 10 and my ortho finally decided to put braces on me!. It was like an hour and a half "procedure" to put your braces on you know what it like so I won't descibe it!. lol Since I had an under-bit my ortho wanted me to come back every two weeks so he could check the springs he put in on the wire!. (The springs didn't happen the first day!.) So I kept going back into the ortho office every 2 week for about 1,2,3 months!. Then when the springs weren't exactly "working" the tried several other things!. (By the springs not working, I was growing A LOT and my lower jaw kept growing out and so I always had a weird bite!.) When finally my ortho got my front teeth over my bottom teeth, BUT one! So he tried bending the wire so it put pressure on the one tooth, so it could bounce back!. When that didn't work, I was around 11 1/2 so he decided to to take my braces off!. That is a long "procedure"!. You have to wait till the ortho has checked all his patients before he's with you because it takes kind of a long time and they're off from school!. Anyway, what he does is he squeezes the wire really hard with these plyer things, and the brackets popped off!. Then he has to scrape all the glue off your teeth!. There's a lot of pressure when he does that but it doesn't hurt!. After thery're off you get all the x-rays, pictures, and impressions, and all that nasty stuff when your done!. But when they're off you'll be soo happy!.

I've had braces on for just over a year now!. It takes about 4 days for the aching and pain to stop, but in the meantime I recommend soup and pasta etc!. When you have had your braces on for a while you begin to forget you have them on and it just feels normal lol!. I still have some sweets but nothing too hard like toffee otherwise it snaps!. Just keep in mind that when its taken off you'll have perfect teethWww@Answer-Health@Com
i feel your pain!. i've had my braces now for about a year and a half!. i remember them hurting forever! but it was really only like three days!. every 4-6 weeks you'll have to go back to the orthodontist so they can "tighten" your braces!. they really only change the wire to a heavier one!. then if you have an overbite, they'll give you rubber bands to wear!. if the rubber bands don't work fast enough they'll put the things called Forsus in, they are like metal rubber bands that stay in 24/7!. MAKE SURE YOU TAKE SOME KIND OF PAIN KILLER BEFORE YOU GO IN FOR A MAJOR APPOINTMENT! :D it helps me a lot!!!
