Question: I'm worry about my impacted wisdom teeth,,,, is there a way to hurry this process!?
i started to have sore throats 3 days ago, then the ear pain, swelling and pain followed!. I looked around the web and found that i have an impacted wisdom teeth(since those are the common symptoms)!. I made an appointment to see an oral surgeon today, but the appointment is scheduled one week from today!. I'm getting worried because the pain is getting stronger, and i wont be able to see the surgeon till next week!.!.!.!. even if i last till next week, he wont have it removed that same day, probably 2 more appointments ( x ray and stuff)!. I'm looking for alternatives or a faster procedure!.!.!. is there any!? or is this "waiting period" actually faster than i've imagined!?
By the way, i'm living in San Francisco!.!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I'm not sure where you're getting your information from, but the symptoms described are not necessarily symptoms of impacted wisdom teeth!. You could actually just be coming down with a cold, or another infection!. Impacted wisdom teeth are usually sore in your mouth and jaw before you have other symptoms and usually don't come on so quickly!. I'm not saying you couldn't have impacted teeth, but you may just be getting sick!.

If you're wisdom teeth are impacted it should only take two appointments to have them out!. One appointment for a consult (x-rays will be taken then) and one appointment for the surgery!. You will also have a third appointment after the surgery to monitor your recovery!.

The office I work at often forgoes the consult by talking with you about risks and complications the same day of the surgery!. Try calling the office and explaining that you are in a lot of discomfort and would like to go straight to the surgery if possible!. Sometimes for insurance reasons consults are necessary!. If they are able to do the surgery same day be prepared not to have anything to eat or drink 6 hours before the appointment!. Also you will need to have someone with you to drive you home and stay with you all day!. If you are a minor this must be your parent/legal guardian!.

If you do need to have the consult first, explain you are in pain and they may be able to give you medication to hold you over until your surgical appointment!. As for the waiting period it usually depends on each individual office and their schedule!. This time of year is usually slower for most offices and they will be able to take care of you fairly quickly!.

Did you tell the surgeon your symptoms when you made the appointment!? If so, if it were an emergency he would have scheduled a sooner appointment, I'd think!. BUT, I'm no professional, so since you're worried you should call him and tell him all this! :) Good luck! Wisdom teeth suck =/Www@Answer-Health@Com

I have seen this question a lot on here, mine took one of mine out right away and the others 3 weeks later, I could have had it done all at once but thought better of it!. I used a lot of ice, advil and oral jel to make it through!. Wished you lived in Jacksonville FL, my oral surgeon was great!!Www@Answer-Health@Com
