Question: Why does Listerine mouthwash hurt the mouth when you rinse with it!?
It hurts to the point that my eyes water and I can't even finish the rinse time of 30 seconds!. Why is this!? What makes it hurt!?!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

The high alcohol concentration kills not only bad breath and bacteria but it also damages nerves inside of your mouth!. They are extremely sensitive!.But dont be frightened mouthwash is completely fine!. In the upcoming December edition of Australian Dental Journal there will be an article suggesting a link between alcohol content of mouthwashes and oral cancer, particularly if you are also a smoker!. It will really annoy manufacturers of Listerine and many others!. It may even lead to the retraction of the Seal of Approval by dental associations!.
If you brush and floss, then you don't need a mouthwash, and there is no indication for the high alcohol content they contain, usually about 16-20%!. It's like swilling your mouth with Scotch!.

It's the alcohol!. Stop using Listerine, it's bad for you!. My dentist told me to stop using it because the alcohol content is too high and it can cause cancer of the mouth!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
It is an antiseptic mouthwash with Ethanol, methanol, menthol, thymol, methyl salicylate, and eucalyptol!. Antiseptics will generally hurt when applied!. Www@Answer-Health@Com
