Pain from wisdom tooth removal, that is constant and not helped by the pain kill!

Question: Pain from wisdom tooth removal, that is constant and not helped by the pain killers!?
My wisdom teeth were removed on thursday (it's sunday morning) and since the numbness wore off I have had pain!. Its not unbearable, but its rather obnoxious, and worse on one side!. The painkillers they gave me (Darvocet) are not helping at all!. I also only have 1 left!. Considering many inform me that the pain does not last this long !.!.!. I am a little concerned that I have "dry socket" as I am more at risk as a women on a oral contraceptive!. Shall I seek a prescription drug that is more potent!? Does this sound like dry socket!? Are my headaches from pain or lack of food!?
ALSO !.!.!.!. my jaw is always clenching !.!.!. and I can only open it about half an inch, hence why I am on a diet of bread, baby food, and frosties!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Different people report different levels of pain after wisdom teeth removal!. Pain will depend on how many you got out and how complicated the procedure was- did they have to remove bone / gum tissue!? The more invasive the procedure, the greater the tissue trauma and the greater the post op pain!.

Mild pain + swelling after 3 days is quite normal and it sounds like youre coping OK!. Difficulty in opening is often due to the needles they give you which puncture a muscle responsible for opening the jaw, if you got both lowers out then the clenching is probably due to that muscle pain, it should subside in a few days!.

That said it could be dry socket, i have actually had this and found it to be a horrible constant intense throbbing banging pain, though if its not that bad you probably havent got dry socket!. Either way you should call your oral surgeon / dentist and discuss and im sure theyd be only too hapy to do a short review to ensure everything is healing well and prescribe pain killers if req'd!. Mantime what we recoomend here as the most effective for post op pain is Ibuprofen - 400mg every 4 hours, this is available over the counter at pharmacies - you dont require a script - that is in Australia at least!. Hope you're feeling better soon!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Wisdom teeth removal can be very painful and unfortunately it may last more than three days!. Besides, yes, the pain being intense combined to the fact you're not able to eat, massive headaches can occur!. Try to apply some ice or something like an ice-pack on your cheeks, not ideal but helps to bear the pain!. (The only thing that kind of worked for me) Don't worry, you'll feel better soon!

Go back to your surgeon or local doctor, it shouldn't be this bad 4 days later!. Try and rest until you can do and perhaps try a cold pack on your cheek or if you can handle it, suck on ice to see if it can numb your gum/jaw for a while to give you some relief!.

dry socket!. happens in the bottom teeth!. i had it in both!. go back to the oral surgeon!. i only took one of the pain pills they gave me (when i got home from the surgeon), but i had discomfort and soreness for a while!. i went back, and they packed my sockets!. in 2 treatments, it was better!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

i had my wisdom teeth removed on wednesday, and the only thing i can find that is currently helping with the pain is heat packs, (was numb until last night, and swelling finally going) !. My Jaw is clenching too!.!. only just able to fit my lil finger in!. but am enjoying eating lots of ice cream!. Www@Answer-Health@Com

maybe he pinched or ruined a nerve in ur gums

i had mine out a few weeks ago, and i totally had that whole clenching thing happen!. it was horrible! it goes away gradually, though!.

you might want to go in and have your dentist (it doesn't even have to be your oral surgeon) just take a look at your mouth!. i did that, because, like you, i was worried!. my dentist (who's a pretty smart, but strange guy) said, "You have to give it time!. For example, if you hit your elbow, and a big chunk comes off, your whole arm is going to hurt for a long time!. You just had 4 chunks taken out of your mouth!. The bone and gum need to grow back, and it will take time!."Www@Answer-Health@Com
