How should I know if a mouthguard fits?!
Question: How should I know if a mouthguard fits!?
I just bought my first mouthguard and I'm not entirely sure I fitted it properly!. It's a but uncertain and loosens up slightly!. I have to bite it down at times, because it's not perfectly fitting!. Is that a problem or should it behave like that!?Www@Answer-Health@Com
Answers:
Mouthguards bought thru a sports store or pharmacist are known as "boil-and-bite"!. You have to heat the plastic in hot water and then suck it onto your teeth!. The fit is usually quite poor!.
You should get a mouthguard made by a dentist or dental lab!. They take a model of your teeth, and then place very hot, soft mouthguard material over it, and use a suction pump to shrink it over your teeth!. They will fit you very well, and "click" onto your teeth!.
A poorly fitting mouthguard will not distribute the collision forces evenly over your teeth!. Many people often don't wear their "boil-and -bite" mouthguards because they fit badly and are uncomfortable!.
It's like wearing crash helmets - it has to fit snugly or it won't do the right job!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
