I truly mean this!.
We have patients who come back for retainer checks who are in their 50's and 60's!. They only wear their retainers about 8 hours each week, or 2 nights a week between work and bed, so 4 hours twice a week!. Their teeth are still beautiful!
What is recommended is every night until 6 months after your wisdom teeth either come in or are removed, then ween down to 1 or 2 nights a week!.

Clear retainers are wore 24/7 for the first 9 months, after that you wear it nights for how many years your orthodontist asks!.

Well, some orthodontists have retainers that are cemented on the back of your teeth, so that they are there permanently and your teeth won't ever go back to being crooked!. But my ortho!. told me that i would have to wear one for about 5 years only at night!. It depends!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
