What is a dry socket? How is it treated?!

Question: What is a dry socket!? How is it treated!?
Answers:
A dry socket is where a tooth has been extracted and either a blood clot fails to form, or a clot that has formed comes out for some reason!. This is usually noticeable 3+ days after the extraction!.

It can be very painful because it leaves exposed tissue and sometimes bone!. The good news is that dry sockets are easily treated with medicated gauze strips that have medicine and usually some form of clove oil which is soothing!. The strips are placed in the extraction site and usually left there a few days and replaced a few times until healing begins!.

Sometimes dry sockets are unavoidable, but the best way to prevent one is to follow all post-op instructions such as not smoking, spitting, or using drinking straws immediately following surgery!. Women are more likely to get them than men and birth control pills also increase your chances of having one!.

Hope that helps! =) Www@Answer-Health@Com
