Answers:
i am sorry to hear that!. i can relate to a similar situation with someone else!. unfortunately those with periodontal disease have severe pain in their mouth and going to the dentist can be very frightening!.

what she needs to know is peridontal disease is very serious and should be treated right away!. an infection in your mouth can lead to very ill health such as other diseases!.

there are dentists out there that are very good with patients like her!. they will talk her through everything before doing anything and make syre that she is comfortable all the way through!. she may need to look around for a dentist se is comfortable with!.

lastly, if she is embarrassed about the condition of her mouth, tell her not to be!. dentists see this all the time!. that is what they are there to do!. having poor gums does not mean she does not take care of her teeth!. dentists know and understand this!. she may have a health condition or bad genes and all the brushing in the world would not have been able to help her!.

best of luck!. you are a good friend to try and help her out!. i hope she will get help!. it will also do wonders for self esteem if it is not so great right now!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

With periodontal disease, the gums recede (peel back) from the teeth and expose the roots!. When the roots of the teeth become exposed, they are unprotected and much more susceptible to cavities and tooth decay!. Eventually, if the gums recede too far, teeth will just start falling out!.

If she is deathly afraid of the dentist, telling her that her teeth will fall out might not even be enough to get her to go!. Phobia of dentistry is pretty common, and she might need some sort of counseling to get her comfortable enough to even get back in the dentist's chair!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Going to a dentist would probable lessen her periodontal problems!.
She'll be just fine 'cause she's old enough to face it!.

Anyway,
If serious problem occur, she'll just make her mouth problems and I could more say her health complicated!.
Early detection means early prevention!.
Prevention is better than cure!

Convince her to go with you to a dentist!.

Oh well,
Don't forget to tell her to brush after meals with a fluoride toothpaste!.
/xd!.

Good luck!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Pills are fine as long as she is ok and does not have an alergic reaction!. In the future she should talk to a doctor and get on some anti anxiety medication specifically for that dental appointment she needs!.

This has not been proven but many doctors believe if this is untreated it can cause the folowing serious conditions!.

Well, if she doesn't go to see a dentist for periodontitis, her teeth will become loose and then eventually fall out!.

The thing about it is, the gums become so inflamed and infected that the gums that hold the teeth in will become so loose that the teeth have no support to stay in place and the part of the teeth under the gums will also decay much quicker due to food being stuck in the small pockets left by the loose gums!.

It's a great idea that your trying to get your friend to the dentist!. She just needs to understand that her fear of the dentist is quite irrational!.

She will eventually loose her teeth! Periodontal disease also has a great effect on your overall health!. It can cause heart problems!!! Also if you call and tell the periodontist that the person is scared to death, the will probally call in a prescription to help relax he or she so they will actually come to their appt!. They may use nitrous oxide(laughing gas) while they do the procedure which will practically put them to sleep!. (both beneficial for the clinician and the patient) Also, since they will be aware of the stress he or she is experiencing the will use stress reduction protocol to keep them from stressing out more!. Ex!. not letting them see needles and sharp instruments! hope this helps! just do your best to get them to go!. It might save their life down the road!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

The disease will progress!. As it gets worse she will start to lose teeth!. Eventually, she will lose most or all of her teeth!. In most cases the teeth become so bad that they just pull them all out!. Why such concern over teeth!? It's because of infection!. You have a lot of bacteria in your mouth!. Whenever you have damage to you gums (as in periodontal disease) you allow bacteria to get inside and grow!. The result is worsening infections in the mouth!. This will start with foul breath (believe me, bad breath does not even begin to describe the odor that will flow from your mouth)!. Eventually, abscesses will begin to form!. This can lead to serious infections in the face!. At best, these are disfiguring as the pus works its way through the layers of your face!. At worst, the infection works its into your blood stream or brain causing life-threatening system infections!.

Even before you are woefully sick, your teeth will slowly rot one by one!. Each one will cause agonizing pain as the the nerve is slowly exposed!. It will continue to pain you for weeks or months until the nerve is finally warn down and scars over!. The adult mouth has 28 teeth (32 if you have your wisdom teeth), so multiply that experience 28 times!.

In the end, just get this taken care of now!. If their are psychological barriers to going to the dentist than you have two options: see a psychiatrist to help you resolve your issues, or find someone in your area that offers "Sedation dentistry" where the dentist will safely administer medications in his office to allow you to relax and have the required work done!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

periodontal disease is serious!. It will not get better on it's own!. Your friend needs to get under a dentists care and have a thorough cleaning!. And then she needs to brush brush brush and floss floss floss!. Not just the teeth but the gum tissue as well!. It may hurt and bleed at first but it will get better!.

If she is concerned about pain and that makes her scared, I would ask 5-10 people who they go to!. When you hear the same name a few times you will know they are good!.!.!.just like a hairdresser!. Then she needs to talk to the hygienist and tell them how she feels!. I actually told mine that if she hurt me I wouldn't come back!. She never hurt me!. I love her!.

Periodontal disease will lead to tooth loss eventually!. Then when a tooth comes out the other teeth will fall into the space making everything shft and problems worse!. Plus it will just look bad without teeth!.

So, convince your friend to call a dentist!. It's ok really!. They have alot of new technology now and it really can be quite painless!.

Good Luck, you are a good friend!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Periodontal disease begins when harmful bacteria overcome the antibodies and other anti-bacterial agents the immune system normally sends out to destroy them!. These types of bacteria are then free to grow and reproduce!.

As the harmful bacteria proliferate, they invade the crevices between teeth and gums!. There they produce plaque, a soft, sticky substance that can harden and form tartar (calculus)!. The bacteria in plaque and tartar release substances that trigger the immune system!. The immune system responds by mobilizing fibroblasts (connective tissue cells) and a variety of immune cells -- including macrophages, monocytes and lymphocytes -- to the site of the infection!. This is a normal response that usually helps get rid of an infection!. But the infection and immune response can cause gingivitis in red, swollen, inflamed gums!.
