If a dentist told your 5 year old child...?!

Question: If a dentist told your 5 year old child!.!.!.!?
That unless he had his tooth pulled out he would die, how would you react!?
This is a serious question and did happen yesterday - if you look at my previous question you will see why he had to have his tooth extracted!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Well, after I knocked the crap out of him for saying something like that to my 5 year old I'd find out who to report him to!. Most practices have a practice administrator and that is the person you need to speak with!. If he is a member of the ADA you can also file a complaint with them!. If you have dental insurance be sure to notify your insurance company, they may choose to drop him off their provider list!. Then I'd start me a nice little email telling everyone in my address book what he said and asking them to forward it to every one in the community!. Then I'd send a letter to the editor of the local newspaper so even more folks would be informed of what a jerk this dentist is!.
After preforming all the damage I could for the jerk, I'd sit my son/daughter down and explain that that denist wasn't a very good one and was only trying to be scary and mean!. Assure him that he won't ever have to see that dentist again and that you will find a new one that is very nice!.
And for the folks who are saying you can die from an abcessed tooth -I'm sure that the precentage rate of death is extremely high, maybe even 1%!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

If that were to happen to me!.!.!.

As a Father!.!.!. I would probably go ballistic and knock out a few of the guy's teeth!.

As a local businessperson!.!.!. I would call the BBB in your area and report the Dentist!.

Something like that is inexcusable, ridiculous, and absurd!. I'd do everything I could to make sure everyone I know knew about this and wouldn't go back to him!. I don't think it matters or not whether he could actually die from the abcess, If that truly is the case, that should be discussed with you and only you behind closed doors away from the 5 year old child!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I read the other question!. Yes, the infection should have been cleared before the tooth was extracted!. I wasn't there, I don't know but the dentist was probably concerned about Sepsis (bacterial infection in the blood stream) and wanted to do it ASAP!. Now, if the dentist said it verbatim as you wrote, that is unprofessional!. Www@Answer-Health@Com

I can't believe any dentist would be stupid enough to say something like that! They're well aware that most kids are apprehensive about the dentist and would usually do their best to put a child at ease!. I'd definitely be thinking about sending a letter to your local Health Authority and the dentist concerned!.

Nothing much usually shocks me on here but I'm totally astonished by that twonk!Www@Answer-Health@Com

I would discuss the issue and the severity of situation with the dentist!. Let he/she know how inappropiate this was and how it may affect your son view on going to the dentist now!. And let them know you dont appreciate it and you won't be revisiting their site any more!. This will affect he/she and make them be more careful with their words!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

That is not appropriate!. The dentist could have just said that the tooth is infected blah blah blah so we need to extract it!. End of story!. There is not need to bring up the word "Die" to a 5 year old!. How rude!. I hope this jackass is not a pedo as they are supposed to not use certain terms around children and scare them like that!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I would be very upset and angry even if it could be fatal you don't tell a 5 year old that it is highly unprofessional and if he doesn't realise that he shouldn't be working with kids!. I would report him and take my child to another dentist!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Fact is he can die from an abcess!.

Edit: HE CAN! If he actually said it like that then report him!. Take away your mum feelings about it though and then think again how he put it!. If you report him you will need evidence that he said it though!. Fact!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

That is way out of order!. You dont tell kids stuff like that!. Kids can be akward around stuff like getting teeth pulled but there are other ways around it!. I would definatly make a complaint!. That sort of stuff can mess kids up!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Depends, if he would actually die then sure!. If not, then it seems like a great way to get a kid to sit still while having a tooth pulled!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

i would report him to the appropriate health authority!.!.!.i most certainly would NOT allow my child to be told that!.!.!.!.that's disgraceful!!!

edit: dreadful answer from Debbie!.!.!.ignore that!!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Thats really harsh and unprofessional!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I would get a second opinion!. Not pulling out a tooth would not make someone die!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

The dentist is right!.

An abscess can kill you if left untreated!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
