Will boiling plastic to its melting point be bad?!

Question: Will boiling plastic to its melting point be bad!?
I recently pulled out an old water pick, (a machine that pumps high pressure water in between your teeth to get out food etc!.) I thought that I should boil the plastic interchangeable tips and make them sanitary!.

I left them in the boiling water for five minutes and I came back and they were deformed, but still usable, it obviously meant that the plastic reached its melting point!.

The water going through the tips goes inside my mouth, but I spit it out!.

Could this release toxins from the plastic, or do anything bad!? Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
Boiling water only reaches 212F, the melting point of plastic is much higher than that!. The plastic did get soft and pliable, and the heat from the bottom of the pot (via contact with the burner) might have helped the warping along more so!. However, there is nothing to be concerned about - there are no leaching of toxins due to the one-time softening of the plastic!. Think about it this way - your plastic tooth brush had to be heated in order to be made into the shape it is in, the same goes for plastic forks and spoons, mouth guards, etc!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
