Side effects of Novocaine?!

Question: Side effects of Novocaine!?
Well, today I had to go to the dentist's office to get a filling, so my dentist pumped the left side of my mouth up with Novocaine to numb it, and I had some pretty interesting side effects!. First of all, my heart was beating INSANELY fast, and it was kind of scary!. She said this sometimes happened, and that I shouldn't be worried!. Then, when my heart rate had finally decreased I began to relax, but not for long!. I began feeling an intense discomfort that just made me want to scream; it was kind of like an extreme form of restless leg syndrome, but all over my body!. I may be overreacting, but it felt like I was being tortured!. For some reason I didn't want to tell my dentist about this, and I just wanted to get out of there!. It was truly mystifying!. Are these common side effects of Novocaine, or should I be concerned!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
The heart beat is a common thing in SOME Novocaine's!. Some of them are made with a vasoconstrictor!. The vasoconstrictors do make your heart race, because they make your veins constrict and your heart does have to pump harder to get the blood flowing!. As far as the other thing you were saying about restlessness, I've never had a patient tell me of that, but you said you didn't tell your dentist either!. Could you have just been nervous, maybe about moving or anything!? If you are concerned about your heart racing you can ask for an anesthetic that doesn't have a vasoconstrictor, such as Carbocaine!. nervousness, dizziness, blurred vision, tremors
A small number of reactions may result from hypersensitivity, idiosyncrasy, or diminished tolerance to normal dosage!.
