call an orthodontist and make an appointment!. Your bite is probably off!.

Stop chewig gum (if you do)

If you are stressed, calm down, meditate to forget your worries!.

Go to the drug store and get a cushioned bite plate!. There is a new one out that is small and cushiony!.!.!.about $20-$25!. Wear it to bed as you may be grinding your teeth!.

Warm compresses may help as well!.

Good Luck, you are not alone, alot of people have this and an orthodontist can fix you up!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

There are many patients who suffer with TMJ disorder, some range from mild occasional flare ups to daily discomfort or pain!. Most patients can find relief with the use of an Ibuprofen such as Advil or Motrin taken at a 600mg dose every 6 hours, this works to help reduce the inflammation and swelling associated with TMJ!. A night guard is another very effective appliance, it's custom made from impressions of your teeth, worn nightly, it is used to help reduce the grinding and clenching that places the excessive strain on the joint associated with this disorder!. Others with this condition use hot, damp compresses and exercises to help reduce the pain and stiffness that accompanies the severe and painful episodes brought on with TMJ disorder!. Most all patients will use one technique or a combination of them to include medication, night guard or hot compresses to find what helps them best!. In more severe cases, surgery may be necessary to correct the condition!. Not all cases are the same so you should consult your dentist for an evaluation and a treatment plan!. He will be able to help you devise a plan that will reduce your symptoms or correct your condition!.

Additional information: To properly diagnosis this condition you will need to be evaluated by your dentist, not an orthodontist!. Your dentist will then determine how to correct or treat your particular condition!. If your TMJ disorder is due to a malocclusion, and orthodontics can correct the condition, you will then be referred to one!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
