When can he start to eat solid food after a crown?!

Question: When can he start to eat solid food after a crown!?
My husband just got a permanant crown on one of his back molars this morning!. He is a BIG baby when it comes to the dentist and has been complaining all morning that he hates "fake food" like soup and really wants something solid!. His dentist told him not to eat anything solid all day-but can he eat things like pasta or soft fish sticks by this evening!? Maybe if he chews on the other side!? That would be about 10 hours after the crown was put on!. Please help-he is driving me nuts!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Hi Emily, wow, sounds just like my boy friend, lol:) I am a dental hygienist & I know there are all different kinds of crowns & different cement used to bond the crown!. So, if the Doc said not to eat solid food all day, I wouldn't!. I mean who wants to go back if it would chip or come out!? It's only a day, but pasta & soft fish sticks should be just fine, just tell him to at least try eating on the other side!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I get my new perm crowns next week!. At the first visit they told me when I get the real crowns, to eat soft food -24-36 hours after to let the cement set!. No big deal!.!.I would rather do that , then have a problem!. chew on the other side and grow up (him not you)Www@Answer-Health@Com

I was eating crunchy food 30min after my crown!. Same place in the mouth!. Just tell him not to chew on that side!. My dentist told me to stay away from sticky gummy food that would pull the crown off!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
