Question: Wobbly/loose adult tooth with Quad Helix Expander (RME expander)!?
Hey guys,
I've had my Quad Helix expander (Which is a Rapid Maxillary Expander) on my top jaw, for 9 weeks now- and it's been all fine, and I've noticed teeth moving to create space- and i've got quite large gaps between certain teeth!.
Yesterday though, one tooth *two teeth down from my front tooth on the left side* has moved considerably, and it's sticking out kinda!. It's not in line with the rest of my teeth anymore, and before it was!.
That's not really the problem, I'm getting braces in a few weeks- so I know that will fix it!.
PROBLEM!
It feels really wobbly, and loose- and I pushed (gently) against it a few times, and it moves under my finger, and I can tell because I do the same to the tooth next to it, and it doesn't move at all!.
I was wondering wether this was normal, or if I should call my orthodontist or general dentist!.
or, just leave it until my next adjustment appointment (which is at the end of November)!.

It is likely a bit loose from all the movement!. When orthodontic appliances move teeth, they do this by resorbing and forming bone simultaneously!. As pressure is applied to the tooth, for example by the quad helix, it causes the bone on one side of the tooth to resorb, or soften!. The softening of the bone allows the tooth to move in that direction, while new bone is forming behind it!. Sometimes when the teeth move quickly you do end up with some temporary mobility!. Definitely try not to play with it with your tongue or finger!. As long as it is not moving more than a couple of millimeters, bleeding or causing a lot of pain you should be fine!. However, if you do feel that it may be more mobile than it should be, call your orthodontist!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
