Well, before I got mine, I was super nervous! But don't worry, I'm here to help! Well, to get braces on, they just put these metal plates on your molars, clean your teeth (tastes really bad) glue the brackets, and attach the wires!.!.!. probably about 1 1/2 hours!.
After you get them on your mouth gets scratched in the inside, and it's kinda of annoying!. They tell you to floss once a day, and brush after every meal, and after you eat anything sweet!. You will listen to this for about a month, then you will get lazy, and not floss at all, which is what I do, because I get way too lazy!. Just make sure you at least wash them twice a day!.
As for spacers, it depends on how you take pain!. It took about 1 minutes to get all 8 of mine on!. For me, they didn't hurt at all and everyone on Yahoo Answers said they killed so bad, which, of course, made me super nervous!.
Don't worry about the pain! Just think of how your teeth will look in the end! Good luck and congrats!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Make sure you get all of the tools that they recommend at the office---a Proxabrush, floss threaders, and dental wax! They should give you some wax before you leave but I ran out of mine within the first 4 days or so (because of changing it so much after meals, brushing, etc!.)!. They are not that hard to take care of but it definitely adds some more time on to your normal brushing routine!!!! Also, use fluoride rinse to keep away plaque buildup!.
The spacer pain was a LOT worse for me than the actual braces pain! I could barely eat for the first 4-5 days and when I finally could, it was soft foods!. I had the spacers on for 3 weeks, I know people who have had them for more or less!. All I can say is to try and dull the pain with advil!. It will go away after a week or so and you will be able to eat regular foods, but be careful because they might fall out!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Honestly!? Your spacer pain will go away soon but you will have a lot of pain after you get your braces!. Be prepared to eat non-solid foods for the first week or so after you get your braces (pudding, mashed potatoes, jello, applesauce, etc!.)!. I tried to eat a hamburger right after my braces went on and it was not fun lol!. Unfortunately, it is a very painful process but you will adjust to it! Every time you get your bands adjusted (the band that stretches from one side to the other across your top (or bottom) teeth!.!.!.!.it fits over each bracket of your braces on your teeth) you will be in pain because it moves your teeth even more!. I had braces for 3 years so I will give you a great piece of advice!. If you have to wear the rubber bands that connect from your bottom and top jaw!.!.!.!.make sure you wear them like they tell you to!!!! Or you will have your braces for a lot longer! Trust me I know! They are annoying because you have to take them out when you eat etc!. but its worth it to wear them so you can get the braces over with! Www@Answer-Health@Com

I cannot give advice on spacers, I didnt have them, but, I do have braces!. Got mine on im May of this year!. Ther process of putting them on doesnt hurt at all, just be patient as it does take time to glue each bracket on!. Take some tylenol or motrin before going in!. Also, continue taking the tylenol/motrin until the soreness subsides!. Read the bottle for instructions!. Eat soft foods for the first few days (mashed potatoes, pudding, jello or smoothies)!. Remember to brush, brush, brush! Dont forget to floss!
good luckWww@Answer-Health@Com
