What happen if you swallow chewing gum on accident?!

Question: What happen if you swallow chewing gum on accident!?
Answers:
Hello,
Although chewing gum is designed to be chewed and not swallowed, it isn't harmful if swallowed!. An old wives' tale suggests that swallowed gum sits in your stomach for seven years before it can be digested!. But this isn't true!. If you swallow gum, it's true that your body can't digest it!. But the gum doesn't sit in your stomach!. It progresses relatively intact through your digestive system and is excreted in your stool!.
Hope this helps!Www@Answer-Health@Com

You will develop what they call gastrobubbleopathy!. Although rare, it occurs when non-porous substances are aspirated into the stomach!. The churning of acids and chyme in your stomach will distend the gum and hyper-inflate it with CO2 (carbon dioxide)!. When this happens, the gum begins to expand and will actually blow a bubble in your stomach!. If it occludes the pyloric sphincter (the hole where food enters the small intestine), the bubble could extend distally into the ileum of the small intestine!. When this happens it is not good, gastrobubbleopathy has actually been known to extend into the cecum and rectum in the colon and the bubble has on rare occasion come out the anus!. This is not very troubling if you are at home, but imagine if you were in your bikini at the beach; could be quite embarassing!. I recommend going to see a good gastroenterologist if you ever swallow gum!. Hope this helped you!. Www@Answer-Health@Com
