Don't worry! I definitely know that sounds super-hard, but after you get them on, it'll be fine!

Take ibuprofen (it does hurt, but not like oh-my-god-my-leg-just-got-chopped-off pain, [LOL] ) and wear wax/Orajel on the scratchy parts!. Brush, floss, etc!., a lot!. Always wear your rubber bands (they help correct overbites and stuff) because otherwise you could be wearing braces for a LOOONG time!. I don't exactly know what they do though lol!.

My suggestions for colors (if your orthodontist provides them) are turquoise, purple, and/or pink!

Make sure to stock up on LOOTS of foods like: applesauce, pudding, Jell-O, soup, mashed potatoes & gravy, mac 'n cheese, and yogurt, etc!. Don't eat popcorn, gum, or anything else very hard or sticky as they could break your braces!.

It's not TOO long to get them put on, and too much to type out, so here's a GREAT site for that process:

Rubber bands on braces are little things that hook on the top of your braces to the bottom of your braces it doesn't hurt and it is to correct your jaw!.

Braces don't really hurt that bad!. The procedure is quick and painless you don't even need Novocain! Just take a Tylenol before and after you go, also Orajel is a really good thing to put on your gums!. Also, just eat soft food after you get your braces!. Smoothies, yogurt, and apple sauce!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

the colored rubber bands are to hold the wire down onto the brackets!. it will feel like a pressure when they go on but they do not "hurt" your gurms will start to feel soar from the moving of the teeth !. you can only eat soft foods that you dont have to chew like mashed potatoes, pudding and yogurt!. this is becasue the gums are soar so it will hurt and feel uncomforitalable for chew!. oooo and the only thing that might hurt a bit when they go on is when she or he puts the metal band on your back teethWww@Answer-Health@Com

first of all the rubber bands on the races keep the wires in place
secondly, they can help train you to bite in a certain way and to help your jaw settle in another position
thirdly they can be used two or three at a time on each set of hooks, to clamp your jaw shut tight after having jaw surgery!.!.!.ppl say having your jaws 'wired together' but its not strictly true cos its the elastics that clamp it shut

when the braces are first put on it hurts for about a day or two!.!.!.!.take painkillers, eat soft food, and it WILL disappear after a couple of days at the most, I know cos I've had them!.
sometimes the inside of you mouth gets sore cos the braces rub it!.!.!.use the wax you're given or go to your pharmacy for a mouthwash - cant remember what its called now - that lessens the friction, and therefore the pain!.!.!.it's good stuff
if you feel the wires are poking into your mouth too much!.!.!.say, at the back, then go back to your orthodontist to get it sorted - don't struggle on in pain!.

I had braces, and a jaw operation!.!.!.!.and I would do it all again!.!.!.so it can't be that bad
don't worry - you'll be fine, honest

the rubber bands keep the wire in place on the braces and they also make it more comfortable!. braces only hurt for like a day or two after you get them on or get them tightened!. Www@Answer-Health@Com

rubber bands correct your jaw to fix your overbite, you can eat anything except hard candy, gum and food that is stickyWww@Answer-Health@Com
