Question: I had a tooth extracted that was abscessed, and the abscess was apparent when the tooth came out, !?
by the smell, and by the abscess that was visibly in the middle of the tooth!. It's the day after and I don't have any pain, but I still have the same bad taste in my mouth that I did before, that let me know I needed my tooth out!. BTW, this is a tooth that 2 1/2 years ago, I had a root canal and a crown on!. ie!.!.$1,600 dolllars worth! Not happy about that!
I called my dentist at home tonight and he said this was normal!. He said as long as I had that infection, it was probably in the surrounding tissue and that my body will naturally fight it off!. If it's not better in a week or so, he'll put me on antibiotics!. Any thoughts!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
You've had the offending tooth extracted, therefore the cause of the abscess has been removed!. Unless you had significant facial swelling, then antibiotics are not required - your body's immune system will mop up the remaining abscess contents!.
It's like taking out a infected splinter - once it's gone, everything will heal up naturally!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

hrmm!.!. the practice i worked at always treated the abscess with antibiotics before the extraction so that the freezing would take properly!. you should definitely get antibiotics!. if he wont give it to you then go see a doctor and they can prescribe!.!. thats where we sent our patients to if they couldnt get ot us in time for an appointment or we couldnt fit them in!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Ya - that all sounds pretty normal!. And infection in a tooth is a pretty bad thing!. It probably was the death of a great number of our ancestors!. So it will hang around with it's horrible taste for a bit!.

But do watch it - and do what the dentist says - get antibiotic if it doesn't slack off!.

I lost TWO root canal teeth with gold crowns!! Lord, I wasn't real pleased with that - and one was infected - and then I had to get a couple of false teeth for even MORE MONEY! And it's all out of pocket for me!.

The only thing I can say is that your teeth are very important and worth the money spent!. I don't know if I'd ever get another root canal though!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
